I’m a keyway as well as rebar guy. Besides it being a good building practice, I also use the edge of the keyway as my layout line to set my verticals in the correct location in my wall. I also don’t remove my keyway until preliminary backfill is done so that I’m not having to scrape and scoop rocks and dirt out of it. That does mean it’s a little more stubborn to get out.
